It’s taken some extra effort, but after numerous delays, the Borderlands movie has finally arrived in a whole new ecosystem for video game adaptations, one in which we no longer expect them all to automatically be terrible. Despite that, some of them will still be terrible–a bad movie is a bad movie, no matter what its source material is. Borderlands is, unfortunately, one such example. There is now a playable build of Control 2, meaning the sequel has entered the “production readiness stage.” That’s not the only notable development at Remedy, either. The company announced that the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes have gone into “full production.”Remedy detailed these upcoming projects as part of its half-year financial report for 2024. For Control 2, this stage is an “important milestone” because not only is it playable, but the build highlights some features for the sequel, too. The developer adds this will help “ongoing business negotiations.” Control 2 was officially confirmed in 2022, though earlier this year, Remedy said it was still a ways off.
